Cobalt blue is a true workhorse of the pottery world. For as long as there have been vessels to sup from and serve tasty treaties, there’s been a rich, moody blue to decorate them. From 10th-century Persian cobalt glass to the sought-after Tang dynasty porcelain of China, from Iznik pottery in Ottoman Turkey to the Royal Copenhagen porcelain of Denmark - potters have painted and people have flocked to buy blue, and still do.

Maybe it’s the calming psychological pull of blue, or its timeless, cross-cultural beauty. Maybe it’s tradition, or just that it looks damn good on everything.

Either way, Midnight Tide carries that same deep rhythm, a colour that moves like water in the depths of the ocean, ancient and new, across every maker’s hands.

Potter's note: When applied thicker, it pools to deep navy; when thinner, it breaks toward soft denim. On darker clay bodies, the colour takes on extra depth and drama, with richer tone and movement.
