Golden Sapwood - Gloss Glaze (MF-254)
500ml brush-on glaze. Midfire cone 6–8. Can be fired to cone 10, with changes to the glaze appearance. Australian made for potters and developed in our Northern Rivers studio.
Golden Sapwood has all the warmth and movement of sunlight caught in resin with rich honey tones that melt into caramel, ochre where it pools and earthy red on thinner application. It’s glossy and luscious, like sap caught mid-drip on a summer afternoon, thick with history and light. A little ancient, it’s a nod to the slow work of time, to trunks that have stood and weathered and given. It’s a glaze that feels alive: fluid, glowing, organic. Not polished perfection, but natural beauty doing its thing. Slightly sticky nostalgia.
Perfect for: mugs that want to look like they live in a cabin and smell faintly of toast and good intentions.
*Potter's Note: Golden sapwood produces rich amber-to-russet tones that shift with thickness, a golden cousin to the traditional tenmoku glaze. The result is a surface that feels both organic and molten, breaking dark red when applied thin and pooling to deep, earthy browns, mustard and honey colours in recesses. An uneven application/thickness produces a variety of tones and interesting flow.
