MF-67 — Emu Egg (Matte)
500ml brush on. Midfire -Cone 6 Glaze
Blue-green and beautifully understated, every good idea starts with an egg. Emu Egg is silky matte and the colour of still mornings and storm clouds. Softly speckled, calm, but a tiny bit wild underneath, much like its namesake. The kind of colour that says, “Nature made me,” even though, technically, you did.
Fun fact: male emus do all the egg-sitting. They don’t eat, drink or leave the nest for nearly two months, pure dedication. This glaze channels ‘patient devotion to looking good under pressure’ vibes.
Perfect for: potters who know that understated doesn’t mean underwhelming - and that progress only moves one way: forward (just like the emu) *It's true- emus actually can't go backwards.
*Potter's Note:
This glaze can go green where applied thinly, It is also a microcrystalline glaze, meaning that during cooling, tiny crystals form on the surface, creating the subtle colour variations and depth. These microcrystals develop more noticeably when the kiln cools slowly through the range of around 1050 °C to 850 °C, allowing the glaze to grow its delicate patterns naturally.
